Faces of the Wild: 5e 2024 Compendium of 100 NPC Stat Blocks

Created by Dump Stat Adventures

From freezing tundras to lush jungles, this supplement features 100 NPCs who live in the wilds. These stat blocks cover everyone you would meet in the wilds, like survivalists, cultists, explorers, guides, new species, and so many more!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Progress Update + We Need Your Help
4 months ago – Sat, Nov 01, 2025 at 10:32:24 AM

Happy belated Halloween! Normally, we send these updates out on Friday, but we're late this week cause the guy who writes them was off adopting a new dog (don't worry, I'm reprimanding myself).

Help Us!

Now, our title in this update is that we need your help. If you notice at the bottom of this update, we have a poll cause we are trying to figure out this little girl's name. We have a naming scheme (Minnow and Leviathan), so we are doing water-themed names.

Check out the poll at the bottom of this update. Plus, if you have some alternative water-themed names, share them in the comments!

BackerKit Surveys + Digital Rewards

As for the actual project, we are making slow but steady progress. We are working on the Backerkit Survey for post-campaign delivery of digital files and securing addresses.

You can expect those surveys to go out at the beginning of December, and once that has been launched, any digital rewards (not including Faces of the Wild) will be delivered to those who ordered them.

In addition to the digital rewards, we will also be sending you a chunk of NPCs in early December so you can start adding them to your games. This will be a great opportunity to provide feedback to us and is what we did in our previous Faces of the City campaign.

See You Next Week!

We hope you have a wonderful week as you recover from overindulging in candy (at least, that's what we're doing).

3 Weeks Left + Art Preview
5 months ago – Fri, Oct 24, 2025 at 04:33:46 PM

Hello! Another week down, 3 more weeks to go on our campaign. We want to say Thank You to everyone who has backed us and will back us in the future (looking at you, Timmy!)

We don't have much to say for this update, as we're recovering from GameHole Con, but we did want to take this opportunity to highlight some of the artists you'll find in the book!

We are not, and will not, use AI – only squishy humans.

BlueYolk

Our cover art was created by BlueYolk, who is responsible for many of our other cover pieces, like Faces of the City and Tool Craft

You can find BlueYolk on Instagram here.

Sebastian “Dubious Artiste”

Sebastian helped us on many pieces in Tool Craft, and designed several Heroes you'll find in the back of Faces of the Wild — like this wandering minstrel who wants to strum a song for you!

You can find Sebastian on Instagram here.

Forrest Imel

We have used several of Forrest Imel's pieces in the past to highlight the NPCs and villains you might stumble across in the city with Faces of the City.

You can find Forrest on Instagram here.

Dean Spencer

A prolific creator, Dean Spencer's art can be found basically anywhere you need fantasy art.

You can find Dean on Instagram here.

That's all for this week!

We'll see you again next week. Please share this campaign with your DM buddies (even if they're your sworn enemy, we'll take them too!). We are halfway to hitting our first Stretch Goal, and everyone who joins this campaign helps us add even more content in the book!

Fully Funded!
5 months ago – Fri, Oct 17, 2025 at 06:11:50 AM

We are excited to share that we have reached our funding goal, and it is now on to Stretch Goals to get you even more content in the book! Thank you to everyone who has backed us, we appreciate your support.

Gamehole Con

In other news, we are at Gamehole Con this weekend! If you're attending, please come by and say hi! We'd love to chat (and trick you into buying more dice).

Future Updates

And since I have your attention already... I thought I would take this opportunity to let you know how often you can expect to hear from us, a bit more info about our timeline, and where we are so far in the project.

During our past campaigns, we shared project updates every Friday during the campaign (and when we hit milestones), and then switched to a biweekly update schedule. These updates share where we are with the project, funny gifs, and anything else we think you should know. If there is something you'd like us to include in an update, please let us know!

As for where we are currently, we have 46 stat blocks already created before the project started, along with planning out the other stat blocks in terms of CR, Encounter Role, and some mechanics. We want to make sure we hit a good spread of Challenge Ratings and that we don't have way too many CR 5s walking around in the Wilds.

You can see a screen grab of our spreadsheet we are using to help us keep track below.

Before You Go

Before you run off to go slay a dragon (also known as going to work), we have a poll for you to take!

Also, make sure you share this project with your friends (and enemies) so that we can unlock even more NPCs to fill out our spreadsheet with!

Thank you again and we'll see you in the next update.

Help us crush this campaign!
5 months ago – Wed, Oct 15, 2025 at 10:24:29 AM

We want to say Thank You! to everyone who has already backed us.

Thank you for putting your trust in us and in the project, and we hope you'll help us spread the word about this campaign by sharing it on Facebook (and other sites). We are well on our way to hitting our goal (and then onto Stretch Goals!)

If you do want to help us spread the word, make sure you use the "Share Button" below! This will be tracked and if we hit 50 shares, you'll be unlocking an 11th Hero or Villain for the book!

The more people who hear about this project, the more NPCs you'll be unlocking for the book. It's our way of saying thank you for helping us get the word out there.

Thank you again for joining us, and if you haven't yet, make sure you vote in our poll and let us know your favorite way of dealing with hooded strangers in a dark forest! Feel free to continue the action in the comments (like your favorite way of stealing the stranger's favorite coin pouch), and we'll talk with you more as the project continues.
